Torva Terra offers a unique instructional road trip style tour of the California Coast. Participants will be guided through an amazing scenic drive of California. The spots that we have selected are simply breathtaking! Locations will have a wide range of landscapes from cliff overlooks, sandy beaches, natural rock formations, bridges and more. A special wildlife excursion will have participants up close with wild sea otters, shore birds, seals and sea lions! Topics will include: long exposure photography, composition, storytelling with imagery, photographing birds in flight and more! Participants are encouraged to bring a sturdy tripod, telephoto lens as well as a wide angle lens. Recommended filters are a 10-stop ND, circular polarizing and a 3 stop reverse ND.

Two Day Photography Tour - Two Full Days of Sunrise to Sunset: $1450

Day One - Meet in Santa Cruz for the first sunrise shoot at 5:30am. Photograph the sun rising over the lighthouse and hills (as seen below). Then spend your day photographing Natural Bridges, sandy beaches and more as you traverse the coastline on scenic Highway 1. As we head South we will travel, stopping often, on the world famous 17 Mile Drive for sunset. Dinner in Monterey will overlook the bay as we relax and review your first day's images.

Day Two - Meet at 5:30am in Carmel to photograph the amazing natural rock formations and cliffs at sunrise. Then spend the late morning with wild sea otters, seals and sea lions at a hidden spot by the bay. Afternoon will bring the group back on the road stopping often at vistas such as Bixby Bridge and State Parks. We will end with sunset at Mcway Falls, famous for its 80 ft tidefall that flows from the sheer cliff into the ocean.


What is included: Two Full Day sessions with the addition of a Photo Review Session and dinner in the evening on Day One. Double occupancy lodging is included for your night on Day One. (Optional single occupancy upgrade with fee.)

What is not included:  Transportation to and during the workshop, meals and other items of a personal nature.

What to bring:  DSLR camera, tripod, telephoto lens, wide angle lens, filters (10-stop ND, circular polarizing and a 3 stop reverse ND), batteries and lots of memory cards, as well as sunscreen, closed toed water shoes for wading, bathing suit and any other items of a personal nature. A laptop or tablet with transfer cable or card reader is also recommended to review your images at dinner.
